Tom Williams has been working with Chinese Medicine since the late 1980s. His original training was in psychology and he remains a chartered psychologist and a Fellow of the British Psychological Society. He trained in Chinese medicine and acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, graduating in 1991. This was followed by further training in Chinese herbal medicine and post graduate clinical work in Beijing, China. He has also undertaken specialist Five Element acupuncture training in London.

Tom established the Kun Chen Clinic in Giffnock, on the south side of Glasgow, in 1991 and has run a busy practice there ever since. He continues to be committed to the development of acupuncture and teaches Chinese medicine at the Northern College in York. He is also the Research Director at the College.

Tom has published several books on Chinese medicine:  ‘The Health Essentials Guide to Chinese Medicine’ and the ‘Illustrated Guide to Chinese Medicine’, published by Harper Collins. He has contributed to other books and is currently working on a new book that takes the concepts of Chinese medicine to new areas.

Tom also teaches Taiji and Qigong, running regular classes in the Glasgow area and one-off workshops all over the UK. He is a teacher member of the Tai Chi Union of the United Kingdom.

Tom is a full member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. These bodies ensure that high standards of training and professional practice are maintained. Further details of their remit and activities can be found on their websites:
